For many years there have been professional in qualifications in Marketing (at Certificate and Diploma level) available from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the professional body for marketing in the UK. Obtaining these qualifications has been the traditional route towards developing a marketing career.

With the launch of the new Marketing NVQs, however, a significant opportunity though has arisen for those involved in undertaking marketing activities (or wish to be) to have formal recognition of their experience and competence-without studying for a certificate or diploma.

This is why NVQs are so powerful-they recognise skills that you have already got and experience that you already have.

What are Marketing NVQs?
Marketing NVQs are based on’ national occupational standards’ which have been developed to describe what competent people in a particular occupation are expected to be able to do. They cover all the main aspects of marketing, including current best practice, the ability to adapt to future requirements and the knowledge and understanding that underpin competent performance in marketing.

The Marketing NVQs cover a wide range of capabilities and experience from levels 2-4.

Level 2 NVQ in Marketing (Marketing Executive/Administrator)

This covers an introduction to the basics of marketing. Learners have to work with marketing data, meet objectives, manage resources, and show that they can work well with colleagues.

Level 3 NVQ in Marketing (Marketing Team leader or Manager)

This is a higher level qualification aimed at the more experienced candidate. Learners develop and implement marketing strategies, design research projects and advertising campaigns, develop databases and run a challenging portfolio of products and services.

Level 4 NVQ in Marketing (Senior Marketing Manager)

At this level we are dealing with the design and evaluation of marketing plans, communication strategies, managing sales relationships, recruiting staff, developing business plans and leading from the front.
