Email Broadcasting Hints and Tips

If used properly, email marketing can be a hugely powerful method of generating leads, enquiries and sales for your business.

Here a few Email Broadcasting Hints and Tips about how to use it wisely.

1 Who is the email being sent from?
Use a personal email address eg andrew@sheltonassociates.co.uk, it achieves much stronger open rate than a general email address (sales@sheltonassociates.co.uk)

2 Will your email blast go to the junk folder?
There are many things you can do to avoid this:
-Keep your Subject Lines to 45 characters or less,
It should read like a headline in the Press
– Avoid words like: “free,” “reminder,” “help,” “call now,” and “discount.”   Spam filters are programmed to intercept these type of words.
-Describe the subject of your email
-Run your email through your system’s spam checker-it will give you ideas about how to improve the email’s ‘deliverability’

3 What if the images are blocked?
Check to see what your email looks like if the images are blocked.  Is it still readable?  Does the message still get through?  Do the links to your landing page or website still work?  If not then you need to rethink and redesign your email flyer.

4 What do you want your customers to do?
You should have a Call to action (Learn more, buy now, etc…) in every blast you send

5 Landing Pages
Use email as a means to drive your contacts to a dedicated landing page with no distractions.  Often this is preferable than taking click throughs to your website as your landing page is likely to be more focussed and more focussed.  You could and perhaps should have separate landing pages for each of your email marketing campaigns.  Landing pages can significantly increase conversions.
