Why it is so important to create an ‘Amazon Plan’ before selling on Amazon.

You might be thinking that you just want to get cracking and start selling on Amazon. I understand that but without having a plan of action, believe me on this one, it is very easy to just lose your way a little and make unnecessary mistakes.

Every client I go and see, I always express the importance of having an Amazon Plan crucially including a practical Action Plan. This includes what you want to achieve and how you are going to get there. You will then have a clear step-by-step Amazon Strategy to grow your Amazon Business.

 

My advice if you are new to Amazon Selling is to learn the essential selling skills, learn the platform and exactly what it has to offer first. There is a lot of money to be made on Amazon and many of our clients are selling very effectively but without fully understanding the platform first it’s almost inevitable that you will make mistakes. So I wouldn’t recommend selling without a plan. Remember as a wise man once said “a goal without a plan is just a wish”.

If you have your products ready to sell then in a lot of cases you can start listing your products on Amazon pretty quickly but my advice would be to not rush into it. It’s very easy on Amazon to list products without doing your research beforehand and then getting extremely fed up when no or very little sales are coming in. I get that quite a bit from new clients “well, I listed my products on Amazon but it didn’t work for me” the next stage would be for me to jump in and have a look at how they have listed the product-let me tell you 9 times out of 10 it is because they didn’t do their research beforehand!

 

Remember if you don’t have a written plan or a formal document then you don’t have a plan. Your Amazon plan needs to set out what you want to achieve and how you are going to get there. Ideally it will also include an ‘Action Plan’ so you know exactly what you’re going to do and when you’re going to do it to achieve your goals. So, once again this part of the process is crucial and I believe it has always been the key to differentiating Shelton’ Associates as a Marketing Consultancy-people often overlook the importance of a plan.
